One decade after the golden year of Corinthians

This year of 2022 completes a decade since the golden year of Corinthians in 2012, and the club launched a shirt to celebrate that year of victories. Let's remember a bit about this incredible trajectory…

The beginning of 2012

The Copa Libertadores title was always something really expected for any fan, but even more for Corinthians's who were seeking its first title. In that year, not only did they made it, but also in a very special way: undefeated. When Corinthians reached the finals, and saw that their opponent would be Boca Juniors (ARG), any fan must have thought that there would be the end for the Brazilian team, and another year would come without this title. However nothing could stop Corinthians that year, not even the feared Xeneizes that were living their best phase and already collected 6 Libertadores titles. The finals arrived, first match in La Bombonera, where any team would fear playing,, loud fans, Boca needing the victory… Things seemed to be set up for the second game in Brazil, although it didn't work like that. The match finished with 1x1, striker Romarinho scored for Corinthians, and the title was going to be decided at Pacaembu.

With more than 40,000 “corinthianos”, the match ended with the most dreamed victory, 2x0 with 2 goals from Emerson Sheik, a core memory for all Corinthians's fans.

Champions of the world:

The emotions didn't stop there as Corinthians was at the world championship. The team won the semifinal against Al Ahly by 1x0 with the goal of Paolo Guerrero, that would later make history forever. With this victory, Corinthians secured their spot in the final, where they would face Chelsea, a very tough opponent. Although as it was already clear, nothing could stop Corinthians. The final took place in Japan, and it seemed impossible that any Corinthians fan could get there, but this proved to be wrong. The city of Yokohama got invaded by the “torcida alvinegra”, which 68.275 fans were recorded to be at Nissan Stadium. No one could believe that, it seemed like Corinthians was playing at their own stadium in Brazil. For the happiness of most of the ones there, Corinthians won the match with a 1x0 score, with Paolo Guerrero being responsible for the goal. Corinthians was once again, world champion.

Cassio Ramos

We cannot mention the world champion final without mentioning Cassio Ramos, the goalkeeper. He was the name of the game that gave Corinthians the second world title, after standing out by making decisive saves.
