Some may say that Halloween was a long time ago, others may still reminisce of the time where we could wear whatever we wanted to school and no one could say anything about it. I am one of those people. After all, it is the perfect holiday! The candy! The movies! The makeup! And most importantly the costumes! So when celebrities post pictures of their extravagant garments recreating classics or of their new creations all are in awe of how accurate they can be. Here are the top 15 celebrity costumes of the Halloween of 2021.
15. Harry Styles as Dorothy from "Wizard of Oz"
The king of extravagance and style displayed his costume of Dorothy, when performing a concert in New York's Madison Square Garden. His dazzling 'Gucci' red slippers and of course his little 'Toto' can be seen on stage where he also sang his own rendition of "Somewhere over the rainbow".
14. Steve Buscemi as a fellow teen
Steve Buscemi became a meme for this scene where he says "How do you do fellow teens", so this year he decided to appropriate this meme and passed around candy for local trick or treaters in his home in Los Angeles.
13. Kaavia James Union Wade as Adele
This ICONIC toddler has absolutely the best children's halloween costume this year. She nails the recreation of Adele's marvelous look from the previously mentioned basketball star's wedding - Anthony Davis. The hair, puffy sleeves and pearl earrings have Adele written all over it. I'm sure the singer would be proud to see this fierce girl represent her.
12. Amy Schumer as a tampon
Yes, you saw that right. The all blue suit isn't a smurf recreation but rather it is a very new creation for halloween - a tampon. For those of you who don't know, this is especially funny because this comedian is also known for her infamous tampax commercials, therefore making its way to 12th spot on this list.
11. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom as syringe and a doctor
This non traditional couple's costume is definitely appropriate given the last couple of years that the world has gone through. The singer is an advocate for the vaccine and used this opportunity to show her passion for the topic.
10. Olivia Rodrigo as Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface
Olivia Rodrigo, had her world wide breakthrough as a renowned artist this year, and so did Michelle Pfeiffer when she played Elvira Hancock in the American horror crime film - Scarface. This outfit looks absolutely stunning on her and when she poses like the actress you can truly see the perfect recreation.
9. Cardi B as Morticia Addams
Natalia Fender - her designer, managed to capture the attention of all with this powerful costume and a sexy recreation of the perfection of the Halloween family monarch - Morticia Addams. The rapper showed her costume on Instagram to her millions of followers which were all left in awe.
8. Megan Thee Stallion as Pinhead
Like her fellow rapper Cardi B, Megan thee Stallion decided that she would stun everyone with this Halloween costume as a sexy and unexpected recreation for Pinhead. Although with a lot less coverage the similarity is undeniable. This costume will be hard to top next year
7. LeBron James as Freddy Krueger (and rest of the NBA team as Spooky monsters paying homage to classic horror films)
The professional basketball player did not come to mess around this Halloween, posting pictures, videos and even closeups to really showcase the quality of his makeup. LeBron also showed his fellow team members dressed up as other classic monsters, a couple of examples being Anthony Davis as Candy man or Russell Westbrook as Chucky.
6. Lil Nas X as Voldemort and basketball guy from Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide
We all remember him from different grandiose gowns and costumes from a variety of different events and shows, and for halloween it was no different. With not one but two - extremely well done looks (giving completely different vibes), Lil Nas X has definitely impressed with these looks.
5. Janelle Monáe as the Grinch
Dressing up as the Grinch will never get old, especially when it is done this well. Janelle Monae is unrecognizable with this fully committed Grinch costume. Amazing recreation which can hardly be distinguished from the original in the movie.
4. Chlöe Bailey as Lola from Shark Tale
This singer recreated 3 different looks this year, but this one is by far the most creative and iconic. Although not everyone may recognize who she is trying to be right away once put side by side, this costume is absolutely amazing.
3. Ariana Grande as Creature From the Black Lagoon
This breathtaking singer has taken her glamorous ways to halloween showing up as the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Her classic slick back ponytail is now a bow updo to show the exaggerated gills and perfected makeup. She goes to instagram to show her recreation of the classic 1950's horror movie.
2. Doja Cat as Princess Kida from Atlantis
Doja Cat broke the internet with this costume. She wore a costume that perfectly represented Princess Kida from Atlantis. Her outfit is perfect but what is most impressive is her props. This 2001 film features probably one of the least recognized princesses from the Disney world - and still, due to the attention to detail in this costume there is no way anyone could mix her up with anyone else.
1. Lizzo as baby Yoda
No one can ever prove to me that there was a better costume this year, and Lizzo 100% agrees with me because she went around Hollywood showing off her costume for a surprise halloween party she was attending that same night. This costume was supposed to represent a tispy version of the disney character. What is even more amazing about this costume is that a lot of people didn't recognize her, which made it even more funny when they later on realised they were being chased and even took pictures with the singer herself.
